Panopto is the leading video platform for education which provides functions such as lecture capture and video accessibility to deliver interactive and engaging live lectures, has been installed since September 2019 to facilitate the recording of class teaching. It is embedded in the Moodle that the University has been using. The operation of the Panopto platform is very simple. Students and teaching staff are only required to login to their Moodle account and to click on the relevant enrolled courses to view the Panopto video uploaded by the lecturers.
Zoom is an online video conferencing platform that has been widely used for real-time remote meetings, webinars, and virtual events, since the global outbreak of COVID-19 in 2019. Zoom offers a variety of features such as screen sharing, recording, chats, virtual backgrounds, online whiteboard, breakout rooms, and connection with email and calendar functions. The popularization of Zoom has hugely impacted communication and collaboration in educational institutions, businesses or among individuals.
Crio is an online video conferencing platform developed by Hong Kong Shue Yan University in 2021. By incorporating real-time virtual meetings and other interactive features which are similar with Zoom, Crio was designed to support more effective student-teachers interaction during online and blended learning classes amid COVID-19 pandemic.
