A Hands-on Guide for Teachers: Assisting Emotionally Distressed Students on Campus

Description

This course provides essential knowledge and skills necessary to support students experiencing emotional distress. Participants will explore the diverse causes of emotional challenges, which may include interpersonal relationships, personal growth, academic difficulties, and mental health issues. The course focuses on identifying critical indicators of distress and understanding the different levels of severity, allowing participants to respond appropriately.

The workshop includes strategies for engaging with students with empathy and offers guidance on referring students to campus counselling and SEN services, as well as information about community resources. Furthermore, it will address crisis management procedures to ensure an effective response during emergencies. The workshop will conclude with a Q&A session, promoting an engaging atmosphere for discussion and practical implementation.
