How to Deal with Students with Emotional Distress and Support on Campus

Description

This course offers the basic knowledge and skills necessary to support students experiencing emotional distress. Participants will explore the multifaceted causes of emotional issues, ranging from interpersonal relationships and personal development to academic challenges and mental health concerns. The course emphasizes recognizing key signs of distress and understanding the varying degrees of severity, enabling participants to respond effectively.

The workshop includes strategies for engaging with students compassionately. And guidance on referring students to campus counselling resources and providing information on community resources.  Additionally, it will cover crisis management protocols to ensure a prepared response in urgent situations. The workshop culminates in a Q&A session, fostering an interactive environment for discussion and practical application.
